Subjects Taught
3rd Grade

Hello and Welcome to my website!  My name is Rebekah Pounders and this will be my 11th year to teach third grade at HHES.  I am in love with teaching third grade and working at Hernando Hills!  We have a great school, with great students and parents.  It is a wonderful community to be a part of. I am so excited about meeting and getting to know another group of students and parents!  Please don't ever hesitate to contact me concerning your student; I'm here for you and your child...we're supposed to work together for your child's benefit! We're gonna have a fun year of learning together.

A little bit about me...

I grew up in Olive Branch where I graduated from high school in 2004.  I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, in May of 2008 with a BS in Education.  In 2011, I earned my Masters of Education degree from Union University.  I've been married to my wonderful husband and friend, Paul, for ten years.  Paul and I have a 13 month old named Luke, and we're expecting another baby in early November.  We also have two dogs that we adore: a black lab named Goose and a chocolate lab named Gage.  They are the sweetest pups and are super attached to Paul and myself. They are our children, and I'm slightly obssessed with them.

I love Jesus. I am passionate about reading and love to pick up a good book during any free time that I have.  I love watching college and professional football, National Geographic Documentaries, and HGTV.  I also enjoy traveling, cooking, running, working out, Pinterest, spending time with Paul & Luke, and decorating my house.

I really strive to have a calm, peaceful, enjoyable and easy-to-work-in classroom environment.  I consider myself to be a pretty laid-back and easy-going teacher; I love to joke and kid around with my students, yet I am also firm in my discipline and have high expectations for my students.  I am a firm believer in teaching students that they always have a choice in what they do.  They can choose to do the right thing and make good choices, or they can choose poorly and end up with consequences that come with making bad choices.  I encourage them to think about their actions before they make decisions, both academically and behaviorally.  I try to teach them to be accountable for their choices (whether good or bad); my goal is to teach the whole child: mentally, emotionally, behaviorally, academically, and morally.  I will give them my best effort as I teach them and prepare them for 4th grade.  The most important thing I can promise you is that I will love your student.  The teacher/student relationship is a special one that I cherish.  I want all of my students to know they matter, they're important, they're special, and they are loved!!!
