Week of October 24-28  

ElA:   *use visualization to make sense of a story

        *answer questions to understand key details in a nonfiction text   

                     *poetry-describe how words and phrases (alliteration, rhymes, repeated lines) supply meaning in a poem

                     *use commas in a series                   

            *add details to writing

            *use different types of sentences (telling, command, question, and exclamatory)


Spelling Words:  see, hear, here, green, don't, both, been, oh, times, makes, five, lines, love, off, once, son, mean, feet, half, health


Vocabulary Words:  shimmer, vanish, expand, stream

review words:  behave, misbehave, discover, racket, numerous, recreation, shelter, necessary, plenty, fragrant, usual, unusual, approach, rude, gobble, dash


Math:  * Telling Time (hour, half past)

*identify coins and their value (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar)

             *count groups of coins to find their value


Important Information:             

*Oct. 25-last day to order Halloween Candygrams

*Oct. 25-PTA meeting at 6:00 p.m.

*Oct. 31-Students can dress up as their favorite book character!!!   We will also have Halloween treats. 

*Nov. 3-2nd grade music program-Our class will perform at 7:30.

*Nov. 4-field trip money and permission form are due

*Nov. 10-Reading Fair

*Nov. 18-last day to buy a yearbook

Hello and Welcome to Second Grade!

Welcome to HHES! As we embark on a new school year here are a few friendly reminders

·        Please make sure you let us know how your child will be getting home for the first few days of school. If it changes please be sure to write a note, send a text via remind, or call the school.

·        The price of meals has changed this year

o   Lunch: $2.75

o   Breakfast: $1.25

o   Please send all money and notes in your childs zipper pouch.

·        Policies and Procedures night will be August 16th 6:00 pm- 7:00 pm

·        Homework will not begin until the week of August 15th.

I will send home a weekly newsletter with the graded papers folder.
