Week of January 8-12


ELA: **compare and contrast important points in 2 nonfiction texts on the same topic

         **identify the author's purpose of a text (to persuade, to inform, to entertain)

         **ask and answer who, what, wwhen, where, why, and how questions about fiction and nonfiction texts

         **review past, present, and future tense verbs

         **write fiction stories for animal characters

         **identify and discuss that biographies are true stories about real people


Spelling:  rain, way, air, came, wait, main, great, move, door, poor, more, or, for, short, bear, four, eye, world, Monday, eighteen


Vocabulary Words:  occasionally, encourage, approve, disapprove


Math: **use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one step word problems

          **solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using dollar and cent signs appropriately


Important information:

**Jan. 9-Science Fair projects are due for those participating.  Students will receive an extra 100 in math for their projects.

**Jan. 10-Science Fair-no lunch guests please
