I am a lifelong resident of Desoto County. I received my bachelor's degree at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS and my master's degree from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. I have worked in the Desoto County School System for twenty seven years, twenty three of which have been in administration including principal of Greenbrook Elementary School in Southaven, MS.
I am married to Jeff Gilder, Jr. We have two children, Coleman and Anna Macon who both attend Mississippi State University. Mr. Gilder is a retired administrator of Desoto County Schools and owner of Gilder Painting Plus. We reside in Hernando where we are members of Desoto Hills Baptist Church.
This will be my first year to serve as an assistant principal at Hernando Hills Elementary School. It is a true privilege to serve this great school and community. After teaching kindergarten at Southaven Elementary School from 2007-2013, I was selected as the Desoto County Teacher of the Year in 2012. I served as the SES Librarian from 2013-2015 and then took the Testing Coordinator and TST Coordinator/Interventionist position from 2015–2017. Most recently, I served as assistant principal at Southaven Intermediate from 2017-2019.
I am Originally from Canyon, Texas, a little town about 16 miles south of Amarillo. I completed my Elementary Education degree in 2006 at Wayland Baptist University and Texas Tech University. I relocated to Southaven and became a part of Desoto County Schools in 2007.
